At the local level, branches are required to maintain standing committees that focus on specific issues and respond to community needs.
ACT-SO
Focuses on youth development through the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics program.
Armed Services and Veterans'' Affairs
Advocates for the rights, benefits, and
needs of military personnel and veterans.
Communications, Press and Publicity
Manages the branch's public relations,
media outreach, and official messaging.
Community Coordination
Focuses on coalition building and organizing
collaborative events with other local community groups.
Criminal Justice
Addresses systemic disparities in the legal system and promotes public safety reform.
Education
Monitors local school policies, advocates for equitable resources, and supports academic advancement.
Environmental and Climate Justice
Addresses disproportionate environmental
impacts and climate hazards affecting communities of color.
Finance
Oversees branch budgeting, manages financial records, and ensures compliance with organizational fiscal policies.
Economic Development

opportunities, and financial equity within the community.
Freedom Fund
Plans and executes fundraising initiatives and galas to support local and national NAACP programs.
Health
Promotes health awareness, advocates for equal access to medical treatment, and hosts community health fairs.
Housing
Addresses housing discrimination, tenant rights, and advocates for affordable housing access.
Labor and Industry
Advocates for fair employment practices, workplace safety, and economic equality.
Legal Redress
Investigates complaints regarding civil rights violations and coordinates with legal counsel for potential action.
Membership and Life Membership

Political Action
Spearheads voter registration drives, monitors legislation, and organizes civic engagement efforts.
